Flip Chop Waves - A 3-Piece Forum Set Tutorial

To create this Set you will need:

A Tube

I used Art by Barbara Jensen

Tubes and License to use Barbara's Art available HERE

Filters Unlimited 2.0

VM Distortion - Flip Chop

Xero - Porcelain

My Selection - HERE

Ready?

Let's Begin!

Choose a light color for your FG

Choose a dark color for your BG

Make a Linear Gradient on the FG

Angle 45 - Repeats 3

New Image - 600x400

Fill with your Gradient

Edge Effects - Enhance - Twice

VM Distortion - Flip Chop

Horizontal - 29

Vertical - 28

Load my Selection

Promote Selection to Layer

Add Noise

50% - Gaussian - Monochrome Checked

Deselect

Drop Shadow - 0, 0, 100 and 15

Duplicate your BG Layer Twice for a total of Three

On Each of these

Filters Unlimited 2.0 - Lens Effects - Horizontal Slices

For the Bottom Layer change the Slices Number to 107

For the Middle one change the Number to 133

For the Top one change the Number to 144

Select the Top Layer

Effects - Distortion Effects - Wave

New Layer

Fill with your Dark Color

Select All - Contract 10 - Delete - Deselect

Drop Shadow 0, 0, 100 and 5 - Change the Color to your Light Color

Drop Shadow 1, 1, 100 and 2 - then again with H and V -1

Change the color to Black or your dark color

Paste your Tube as a New Layer

Position as Desired

Drop Shadow - 20, 20, 100 and 100

Add your Name, CR info and License#

Crop to Merged Opaque

Let's get what we need for Forum Tag and Avatar

Shift+D to Copy your Tag - Twice

On the First Copy

Remove Tubes, Border, Name and CR Layers

Set your Crop Box to 150X150

Move where you want it and Hit the Arrow to Apply

Add the Border and your Name or Initial

Set this aside for now

This is your Avatar

On the Second Copy

Remove the Border and your Main Tube

Move your CR and Name Layers to the Center of the Tag

Custom Selection

Top - 50

Right - 600

Bottom - 350

Left - 0

Crop to Selection

Add the Border

Add your Tube and give it and Drop Shadow 20, 20, 100 and 100

Crop to Merged Opaque

Move your Name and CR Layers back into position

Set this aside for now

This is your Forum Tag

Animation

In PSP - Edit - Copy Merged

In Animation Shop (AS) - Paste as New Animation

In PSP - Hide the Top BG Layer - Edit - Copy Merged

In Animation Shop (AS) - Paste After Current Frame

In PSP - Hide the Next BG Layer Down- Edit - Copy Merged

In Animation Shop (AS) - Paste After Current Frame

Edit - Select All

Animation - Frame Properties

Change the Number to 25

Save as a Gif

Animate the Forum Tag and Avatar the same way
