For this Tutorial you will need:
PSP and Animation Shop-both sold by Corel
I used PSP X3 , but I am sure this can be done in any version
A tube and a close-up
I used art by Michael Dipascale
Tubes and licenses are sold by MPT
Please do not use this art without a license
Font of choice
Xero-Porcelain and Fuzzifier
MuRa Meister-Copies
Ready?
Lets begin!
New Image 600x250-transparent
Copy your tube and paste as new layer in your tag
MuRa Copies-Star Cluster-default settings
If this doesn't cover the entire background, then duplicate, mirror and merge
Duplicate layer-Blur-Radial Blur

Edge Effects-Enhance-Enhance More
Distortion Effects-Curlicues

Xero-Fuzzifier

Artistic Effects-Halftone
I changed the blend mode to Luminance(L)
You may want to try different blend modes here depending on how it looks
Merge Visible-Crop your tag to 600x250
Paste your close-up and move to the right-blend mode- hard light-lower the opacity a little
Paste your tube and move to the left side-Xero-Porcelain -Blue Channel-0-Adjust-Sharpen
Drop Shadow- 5, 5, 76, 45
Crop your tag again
Create a new layer between your tubes layers
Using your rectangular selection tool and select a thin rectangle across the top of the tag
The idea here is to highlight the eyes of your close-up
Fill this selection with a dark color from your tube-deselect
Duplicate and flip-Merge these two layers together
Change the blend mode to overlay
Merge visible- Copy Merged-Paste as new image
Set your tag aside for the moment
Working on the new image-Resize to 150 px height
Set your crop tool to 150x150 and position it over the part you want for your avi
Hit the check mark to apply the crop
Create a new layer -fill with dark color
Select all-modify-contract 2-delete-deselect
Add your CR info, license # if necessary and your initial
Merge visible-Now your Avi is done-here is mine:
Now to finish your tag...
Create a new layer -fill with dark color
Select all-modify-contract 2-delete-deselect
Add your CR info, license # if necessary and your initial
Merge visible and you're done!
Here's another example using the art of Ismael Rac
